| Is heartworm medication only for dogs? |
|
| Absolutely not! Cats can get heartworm disease as well as dogs. Heartworm affects cats differently than it does dogs. In dogs, 12-14 heartworms can be fatal; in cats only 1 heartworm can be fatal! Since heartworm disease is transmitted through mosquitoes, indoor and outdoor cats need to be on preventive medication such as Revolution or Heartgard. Look for breathing problems and vomiting among other symptoms. Please call us for more information. |
