Bella was born on November 9, 2011. She is a Maltese puppy. She had her first haircut and grooming appointment with Carol today (2/15/12) … She is 14 weeks old and weighs 3 lbs 13 oz.

She lives at home with Deb and Reggie and their five children… Michael (21), Steven (17), Nick (16), Mike M. (12), and Molly (7), as well as our guinea pig, Armand.

Bella's mom, Deb, is very happy to have her and is learning all about raising a puppy…as this is her very first dog…ever! Loving every minute with her!!

With the help and guidance of Dr. Handel and all the wonderful staff, I am learning all about keeping Bella well taken care of! …And as if I am not spoiling her enough on my own, the staff all love to see Bella arrive and shower her with loads of love and attention too! Thank you for educating me through her growth and development!

We've had Dobi since he was 10 weeks old. He is a total lap dog and needs to snuggle under the blankets. Like your typical Min Pin, the King of Toys, he likes to make everything into a game. Whether it's a toy or not, he does his best to keep it from you! He is very nosey and needs to know everything that goes on. His favorite hobbies are counter surfing and getting into things he shoudln't :) He definitely keeps us on our toes and puts a smile on our faces (unless he's eating one of my socks). He's been a joy to have in our household and we can't think of what life would have been like without him!

  • J. Henry

What can I say about J Henry, well I would classify him as a "Big Lug" for sure, he is out going ,very friendly and mild mannered. His story began in November of 2005. A neighbor asked if I had seen the cat that had been trying to get into the houses on the street. I answered I had not and did not think to much more about it as there were always strays around the area. Several nights later I had worked the late shift and was retrieving the mail from the postal box at the end of my drive way when I heard a cat meowing rather loudly. I looked down the road and there was a out line of a cat in the darkness running at full speed up the hill towards me. He came right up to me meowing all the time, rubbed against my leg wanting attention. I looked at him an asked "are you the lost cat I heard about ?" And reached down and patted him on the head. I walked to my door, went inside and brought out a can of food which was gone in seconds. Presented an additional can and went in the house leaving him to eat his meal. The next morning I opened the door and there he was sitting waiting for me. I already had a cat "Zaggs" and was not in the market for a second. I made a bed for him on the porch, checked Pet Finder and the local news paper to see if he had been reported lost. A couple days later he was still on the porch and joining us for meals. I made a flyer and sent it out to all the Vets in the Derry and Londonderry area but no one recognized him and I got no response. After sixty days I brought him in to Dr. Handle for shots and the rest is history. All he needed was a name, he was short but chunky, so good natured and was accepting of everyone, and reminded me of my Dad, who's name was Joseph Henry but was called just Henry, or around town " Henry the fisherman" as he was know around Beaver Lake. I did not want the exact same name and put the J in front, so he officially became J Henry Soucy. And that is how J Henry came to join my family. I have enjoyed every day since with J Henry, he is the official greeter at the house and expects every one to make a fuss over him. He is a delight for sure. -Lois Soucy

Ave et vale, Rico! Six years and fifty weeks ago, tomorrow, I went to the South Shore in Massachusetts to meet a cat who had been saved from his second period in a shelter, one which would have killed him if no one would take him. The woman who adopted him from the first shelter, not a cat person, had turned him back saying he was a "vicious cat."

The shelter records indicate that she made this assertion because she had been cooking chicken (a food he is extraordinarily fond of) and he had been monitoring her every movement from just behind her. She stepped back unexpectedly and landed on him. He got out from under her foot, and reminded her that he was there as many cats will do, by pressing his mouth against her ankle. He didn't break skin or cause any pain, but now he had that "vicious" label.

As a result, he spent six months in a cage, and for that time no one was allowed to even touch him. By the time National Abyssinian Rescue found out about him and got him released to a temporary home, they were concerned as to how well the cat would handle being with people again. Because of the special care we'd given to our first Aby, they asked if we'd at least take a look at this little boy, and decide whether we thought we could help him.

So it was that I arrived at a stranger's home, not sure what to expect. Once inside I saw a cat in the next room, and sat down on the floor. Rico raced over to stand on my lap and touch noses with me. Every bit of body language I knew how to read from him said "Hi! I really LIKE you!"

I spoke with the woman who was fostering him, and called home to describe my perceptions with Nancy. A little later, I returned to New Hampshire with an eager little cat in a carrier on the passenger seat. At our house he had room to run as he never had before, and as construction was finished on the expansion of the house it was Rico who invented the game of jumping from the loft into the kitchen/living room space below it.

He has explored all the sunny windows, enjoyed all the warm spots during cold weather, and been the greeting cat for the house, an often difficult post to maintain given how many of our cats have outgoing, human-oriented personalities. I don't think any visitor to the house has ever failed to remember him. From break of day to late at night, Rico would come by to see what you were doing, and to say "Hi!" again.

After almost seven years of "Hello!" he doesn't want, or know how, to say good-bye.

Tomorrow, with the sun high in the sky, we will say "good-bye" to him, and for him, because it is the last loving thing we can do for him.

Hi, Rico. I love you, too.

We rescued Zoe back in the fall of 2009 from a foster home. We had a vendor booth at a local pet event and at the end of the first day, we heard this little whimper from the booth behind us. My wife pulled back the curtain and there she was, it was at that exact moment, we both looked at each other and we just knew that we HAD to take her home! Two days later, she was ours :)  She is the sweetest, gentlest dog, she does something everyday to make us love her even more. She LOVES going for a ride to the point she now will not let us leave the house without her! We've nicknamed her "The Tongue" she will attack you with love any chance she gets!
